Reading an ingredient label

Ingredients are listed by concentration, highest to lowest. Water is almost always first — that's normal, not a red flag.

We look for where the active ingredient falls in that list, whether the formula includes any barrier-supporting ingredients like ceramides or squalane, and whether fragrance is disclosed or hidden behind 'parfum.'

Every NOIR formula publishes its full ingredient list on the product page — including the ones that don't sound as impressive as the actives.
